Eleven-year-old Nico Krispis has never told a lie. When the Nazis invade his hometown, a German officer convinces him he can save his family, friends, and neighbors by convincing everyone to board trains leading to “new homes.” Only after it’s too late does he discover that he helped send everyone to their doom at Auschwitz. He vows to never tell the truth again.
